The Deccan Geographical Society of India was established in 1962. It has been publishing an International Geographical Journal, namely, "The Deccan Geographer'' since 1962. The journal has an international registration number, ISSN-0011-7269. Every year two issues of the journal (June and December) are published and circulated among 1000 life members, 700 libraries in India, and 29countries in the world. The special issues have been published by DGSI on Historical Geography (1992), Index Volume (2000), and Climatology (1997). Besides, the Society started a new Journal, namely, Bhugol Shastra Sanshodhak in 2006. The membership is open to geographers, planners, and scientists belonging to allied disciplines.
